Bernard Durham

A sergeant in Lewis’s Field Security section, one of only four left to cover Naples itself.

In the book

Among the handful of section men — with Parkinson, Evans and Lewis — holding the city after the rest were dispersed to the coast and to Nola. Later shot through the shoulder by a bandit dressed as an American officer during an anti-bandit drive near Avellino — the section’s first casualty.
